Sharanu! VSNA Sammilana is the matrimonial service of the Veerashaiva Samaja of North America (VSNA), created to help individuals and families of our Veerashaiva-Lingayat community find a life partner. It is meant for matrimony only – it is not a dating website.
Guided by the values of Basavanna and the Sharanas – honesty, respect, equality and Dasoha (selfless service to others) – we ask every member, parent, sibling and well-wisher who uses Sammilana to help keep it a safe, trusted and welcoming space for all.
How Sammilana keeps you safe
- Every profile is reviewed before it appears in the listing. The ✓ badges show that a profile is Approved by VSNA, has a valid mobile number (Phone verified) and has a profile photo (Photo verified).
- Only members can browse. Profiles are visible only to registered members with an approved profile and membership.
- Respect the privacy of every member. Profiles and contact details are visible to members with an active membership – use them only for matrimonial purposes and never share them outside Sammilana.
- Report and block. Every profile has a Report or block option. Reports go privately to the VSNA Sammilana team, and the other member is never told who reported them.
Our community guidelines
- Be truthful. Share honest details about yourself and your family – age, education, work, residence and marital history.
- Be respectful. Speak to every member and family with the courtesy you would want for your own family.
- Treat everyone as our own. Respect every individual and family – whatever their sub-community, place of birth, residence, profession, life journey or abilities – in the spirit of equality taught by our Sharanas.
- Accept a “no” with grace. A declined interest simply means it was not the right match. Every family has the right to decide.
- Involve family in the way that suits you. Some members search on their own, others with parents, siblings or elders. Every approach is welcome.
Staying safe
- Never send money or share bank, card or ID numbers with anyone you meet through Sammilana. VSNA will never ask for these by phone, email or message.
- Meet safely. Start with phone or video calls, meet in a public place, and let a family member or friend know your plans.
- Take your time. Be cautious of anyone who pressures you to decide quickly, avoids meeting family, or whose details do not add up.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, use Report on the profile or write to us at sammilana@vsna.org.
Thank you for helping keep Sammilana a trusted home for our Samaja. Together we can help more families celebrate a happy Kalyana.
